The international subsector saw an estimated 3. 1 percent decline in contributions received in 2008 compared with 2007. International disasters in 2008 included a winter weather crisis in China, a cyclone in Myanmar, and a May earthquake in China. U.S. companies and households responded to all of these with donations of aid.

Organizations engaged in the environment/animals subsector received an estimated 9.0 percent less in 2008 compared to 2007.
